Many years have passed since then and Pepe has embarked on a rich variety of life experiences. He has been a shepherd, cowboy, soldier, police reserve, business owner, as well as having a small role in an old Western film titled SAM WHISKEY, along with BURT REYNOLDS, CLINT WALKER, OSSIE DAVIS, etc.... but nothing has been more rewarding than playing "La Gaita Asturiana" the bagpipe typically played in the northern region of "Asturias," Spain. With his bagpipe in hand, he has toured the world, started the first Spanish Bagpipe group in Los Angeles, as well as recorded a CD titled after the river that runs through his hometown "Rio Deva." He is considered to be the "Gaiteru Mayor," the major bagpipe player, of Penarrubia, land of his ancestors and where he regularly returns every opportunity he gets to re-inspire his music.
